Second post-quake survey of Nepal citizens points to limited progress

Widespread strikes and closures across Nepal delayed data collection for our second survey of people affected by the April earthquake.  The results are now out and show that Nepal’s travails extend beyond concerns about the new constitutional arrangements that sparked the unrest.

The latest survey paints a picture of unmet needs, lack of trust in the government, inadequate provision of information about recovery activities, a sense of not being heard and little overall progress in the recovery.  A large majority of women feel their particular issues are not addressed. The more encouraging findings relate to improving perceptions of the role of NGOs and the sense that distribution of aid is getting fairer.
